United States of America, Silver ‘Capped Bust’ Five Cents, 1836, ‘Large 5’ type, Philadelphia mint. Obverse: Bust of Liberty facing to the left, draped and wearing cap inscribed “LIBERTY”, date below, thirteen six-pointed stars surround. Reverse: Bald eagle perched on three arrows and olive branch, wings spread and bearing an escutcheon on breast, ribbon inscribed with motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM” above, denomination below, country surrounds. KM-47. Calendar year output of $95,000 face value for Philadelphia mint 1836 (1,900,000 mintage). Certified and graded by PCGS as Extremely Fine 45. Deeply toned, a charming example.
