British Empire, United States of the Ionian Islands, Æ One Obol, 1819, Royal mint, London. Obverse: Venetian Lion passant guardant, holding bundle of arrows aloft in right paw, date with stop below, legend in Greek surrounds, “ΙΟΝΙΚΟΝ ΚΡΑΤΟΣ”. Reverse: Britannia seated facing to the left, diademed and draped and holding olive branch in right hand and upright trident in left, Union Jack shield rests by her side, “BRITANNIA” surrounds above. KM-32. Light stain to reverse, otherwise quite evenly worn and with an even patina, scarce piece in grade, Very Fine.
