Description
Gangas of Talakad, the Western Ganga Dynasty of the Southern Deccan region of India, Gold Gajapati Pagoda (3.87gm 14mm), circa 1080-1327 AD. Obverse: Caparisoned Elephant to the right. Reverse: Floral scroll. Mitchener, South I 192-193; MNI-702. A few minor hairlines to reverse, the obverse centered better than average for the type, well struck in typically high relief, Extremely Fine, reverse near Extremely Fine, the type appears to be receiving a lot more popularity in recent times.
