India, Southern Deccan, Gangas of Talakad, the Western Ganga Dynasty, Gold Gajapati Pagoda (3.91g, 13mm), circa 1080-1327 AD. Obverse: Caparisoned Elephant to the right. Reverse: Floral scroll. Mitchener, South I 192-193; MNI-702. Few minor deposits and slight graze on reverse, otherwise bold and typically attractive for the type – a notably admired issue which is certainly among the most desired of Indian numismatics on account of the intricate obverse die-work, Extremely Fine.
