Description
Roman Empire, Gāius Iūlius Vērus Maximīnus ‘thrāx’ (Maximinus I ‘the Thracian’), Roman Emperor of the Third Century Crisis 235-238 AD and the first during the ‘Year of the Six Emperors’, Silver Denarius, Rome mint 235-238 AD. Obverse: Laureate and draped bust of Maximinus ‘Thrax’ facing to the right, portrayed youthful and resembling Severus Alexander, legend surrounds, “IMP MAXIMINVS PIVS AVG”. Reverse: Victoria advances right, draped in stola and holding aloft laurel wreath in right hand and sprig of olive in left, legend surrounds, “VICTORIA AVG”. RIC-16; RSC-99. A very visually striking example with an equally impressive portrait and reverse, very handsome, Extremely Fine.
