Description
Caesar Augustus, Roman Emperor of the Julio-Claudian Dynasty 27 BC – 14 AD, Silver Denarius (3.96g, 19mm), Tarraco or Colonia Patricia mint 20-16 BC. Obverse: Laureate head of Augustus facing to the right, laurel wreath tied with ribbon which flows behind. Reverse: Pair of laurel branches upright at centre, “CAESAR” horizontal above, “AVGVSTVS” horizontal below. RIC-51; RSC-47. A bold and most handsome anepigraphic piece, the obverse bold and the reverse understated, a most collectible example of Augustus, good Very Fine, reverse Very Fine.
