South Australia, Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society, Silver Prize Medal (70mm), 1922, by J.S. & A.B. Wyon, awarded to Metters Ltd. for their ‘self-oiling windmill’. Obverse: Agricultural scene consisting of several farm animals, equipment in foreground, mountains in background, letters engraved surround above, “Awarded to Metters Ltd for Self Oiling Windmill, Sept 1922”. Reverse: South Cross Stars central within dense agrilcutral wreath, engravers name “J.S. & A.B. WYON” below wreath, legend surrounds, “THE ROYAL AGRICULTURAL AND HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA”. Edge: Legend in engraved script, “Awarded to METTERS LTD. Self Oiling Windmill September 1922”. A very large and bold silver award medal in excellent preservation, despite a few minor edge nicks which are not easily seen in the imagery, the offered piece appears as made and as issued, and curiously with engraving on the obverse as well as the edge, Mint State.
