Description
Japan, Edo Period, Tenpō era, Gold Koban, struck circa 1837-1858 AD. Obverse: Two fan-shaped Kiri crest above and below flank two inner square panels, the top with the value “壱両” and the bottom with the signature of the Mint Official “光次”. Reverse: Butter-fly-like signature, and various other characters “保”, the stamps of mint officials to the lower left. Includes the Japanese Numismatic Dealers Association ‘Guaranty of Genuineness’ Certificate and booklet, numbering this Koban 45279. Extremely Fine or better.
