Description
Henry II of the House of Angevin, Plantagenet King 1154-1189 AD, Silver ‘Tealby’ Penny, Class C (1163-1167), struck at Carlisle, Moneyer ‘Willem’ (?). Obverse: Crowned Bust of King Henry II facing forward holding sceptre to the left, Class C with curl of hair at temple, mantle of many folds and jewelled collar, legend around, “+ hENRI : R : A” (“Henry King of England”). Reverse: Short cross pattée with smaller cross pattées in each quarter, legend around. Spink-1339. Details are Very Fine, struck on a lovely round flan as is usually the case from Carlisle mint.
