Description
Diadumenian, as Caesar 217-218 AD, Silver Denarius (2.97g), struck at Rome 217-218 AD. Obverse: Bare Headed, draped and cuirassed Bust of Diadumenian facing right, “MOPEL ANT DIADVMENIAN CAES”. Reverse: Diadumenian standing facing forward, his head turned to right, holding legionary signum in his right hand and sceptre in his left; to his right, two separate signums, “PRINC IVVENTVTIS”. RIC-102a; RSC-3; Sear-7449. A spectacular portrait with nice deep cabinet toning greeted with some nice underlying amber colour along the periphery of the obverse; unfortunately the reverse is weakly struck and a touch off centre.
