Obverse: Crowned figure of King Charles I atop caparisoned horse cantering left, in his left hand the reigns and in his right his sword that rests upon his shoulder; plume above horse’s head, all within inner beaded border, legend around, “CAROLVS· D:G: MAG: BRIT: FRA. ET· HIB: REX ·:·” (“Charles by the Grace of God King of Great Britain, France and Ireland.”). Reverse: Garnished, Oval Shield of Arms of the House of Stuart, “CR” above, all within inner beaded border, legend around, “· CHRISTO ·:· AUSPICE ·:· REGNO ·:·” (“I reign with the auspice/protection of Christ”).
