King George VI (1938-1952), Æ Half Penny 1942Y., Perth. Obverse: Bare Head of George VI facing left, “GEORGIVS VI D:G: BR: OMN: REX F:D: IND: IMP.”. Reverse: Kangaroo in motion, “1942 HALF PENNY”. Minor flan flaw in a horizontal line across the Kangaroo as well as a minor spot, else quite an attractive coin. George VI’s bust is quite weakly struck – despite this the coin is a lovely brown with traces of mint lustre. Details are Almost Uncirculated
The Obverse Latin legend reads “Geōrgius Sextus, Deī Grātiā, Britanniārum Omnium Rēx, Fideī Dēfēnsor, Indiae Imperātor”, with an English translation of “George the Sixth, by the Grace of God, King of all the British People, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India”.
